Two-out hits, Phillie flubs allow Flag of Victory to rise again

I think we know that Miguel Batista isn’t going to be the permanent replacement for Mike Pelfrey.

But he at least kept the thugs from Philly to 4 runs in 5 innings on Tuesday, and the Mets bats again worked some two-out, late-inning magic to post a 7-4 win, taking the first two games of the series.

The Phillies didn’t help themselves in the field, allowing the tying run to score by throwing the ball around – poorly.

Lucas Duda was one of heroes, hitting a single to drive in the game-winning run. Kirk Nieuwenhuis was 2 for 3, including a big sacrifice fly insurance run.

Credit the bullpen for some great pitching – and Batista, too – and raising the Flag of Victory!
